On the cover: Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is a rare but serious form of congenital heart disease with limited postnatal curative approaches. In this issue, deAlmeida et al report on the use of a chick model of this condition, for testing a novel prenatal surgical procedure aimed at restoring blood flow to the hypoplastic left heart structures. The figure shows the dilated right ventricle forming the apex of the heart. See related article, page 1363.
