"Online First" Becomes Even Faster: Announcing Immediate Online Publication Upon Acceptance
One of the goals of the Circulation Research editorial team is to present the best, most exciting, and most innovative basic and translational cardiovascular research as rapidly as possible. To this end, we have worked diligently to keep the average time from submission to first decision for all manuscripts received as short as possible; for 36 months in a row, this interval has been less than 14 days. We have also created the category of Brief UltraRapid Communications (BURCs), where cutting-edge work is reviewed in less than 7 days.
To further this goal, we are pleased to announce that now we will publish all Original Research articles Online First on the same day of acceptance, including Original Contributions, Short Communications, and New Methods. For BURCs, this new process means that the article will move from submission to peer review to revision and to publication in approximately 14 days, less time than most journals take to return a first decision.
Once an original research manuscript has been accepted and finalized for publication, the accepted version will be published immediately Online First as it appears in the submitted PDF file. For this reason, it is important that, when submitting the final manuscript and figure files, authors ensure that all necessary changes or corrections with respect to content, grammar, and formatting have been made. More information can be found on the Online First web page at http://circres.ahajournals.org/content/early/recent.
We are proud of the efficiency of the editorial operations of Circulation Research, which we believe will be further enhanced by immediate publication of accepted articles. As always, we will greatly appreciate your comments and suggestions.
