Sterol Metabolism in Monkeys
Dietary Cholesterol and Protein in Maintenance of Sterol Compensation
The sensitivity of three primate species to a decompensation of sterol metabolism reflected by hypereholestereniia is demonstrated. The role of the dietary protein in this phenomenon is shown and explained as reflecting the supply of the precursors of cysteine, which in turn is essential to sterol metabolism.
