Circulation Research Introduces News & Views
As part of our plans to enrich the content of the journal, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new section entitled News & Views, which debuted in the November 20, 2009 issue. Written with nonspecialized terminology and in an accessible and conversational tone, and authored mostly by freelance science writers, News & Views will highlight recent scientific advances and important new developments (including international news) that are of interest to the cardiovascular community. Recognizing the challenge of keeping up with all of the important new literature, even in the leading journals, we intend this section to be a vehicle for the dissemination of high-impact research. This will help our readers to remain abreast of major discoveries in the cardiovascular field, as well as ground-breaking discoveries in other fields that might have relevance to cardiovascular research. An additional goal is to keep readers informed of developments in science management, policy, and political and social issues that might impact the conduct, understanding, and implementation of cardiovascular research. Occasionally, News & Views will provide summaries and highlights of major cardiovascular meetings, as well as columns prepared by selected scientific leaders. In keeping with the American Heart Association’s mission, we also plan to address issues relevant to early career investigators and their particular needs.
News & Views will be edited by Aruni Bhatnagar, Houman Ashrafian, and the Chair of the Council on Basic Cardiovascular Sciences of the AHA and will be available both in print and online. As always, feedback and input by the readers will be welcomed by the Editors.
